DVD rental machine operator TNR Entertainment Corp.
is expanding its reach into 170 Atlanta-based Kroger
stores.
The installation keeps TNR on track to soon complete
a national rollout of its machines into the Kroger grocery
chain.
TNR aims to expand into more than 1,300 grocery locations
across 25 U.S. markets by early 2007. Other grocery
chains housing TNR machines include A&P, Food Lion,
H-E-B, Publix and Roundy’s/Pick ‘N Save.
This latest push into Atlanta-area Kroger stores marks
TNR’s largest growth spurt to date for its machines,
branded The New Release.
“This major new market for TNR is not only a
significant extension of our strong relationship with
Kroger, but it also allows us to introduce The New Release’s
unmatched convenience and value that automated DVD rentals
can deliver to more of their customers,” said
Jeff Karbowiak, TNR Entertainment chief operating officer.
TNR is clipping at the heels of the industry’s
dominant disc rental force, McDonald’s co-owned
Redbox. Currently, Redbox stands at 1,700 locations
at grocery, drug and restaurant outlets.
Since 2002, TNR has rented more than 5 million DVDs
to about 1 million customers. Each kiosk houses 200
titles and rents discs for $1 per night.
